Turkey Galleries

Turkey: Favorites : Ottoman mosques, Byzantine churches, the Bosphorus, Sufi Dervish dancers, The Grand Bazaar, Greek and Roman ruins...all of these make Turkey a great destination for an avid travel photograher like myself. I spent a week in Istanbul in late October, with a two day trip to ruins near the Agean Sea. This "Favorites" gallery shows a bit of everything. Choose from separate galleries under "Turkey" (on my home page) for more in depth coverage of different topics.

Ephesus / Turkish pottery : On the second day of my tour, I saw Ephasus (Greek and Roman ruins on the Agean sea). Afterwards, we visited a pottery studio, and went to the "Mother Mary house," purported to be the place where Mary spent her final years.

ISUF Photo Club : On my second day in Istanbul, I was at an Anglican church during their Sunday service. I'd just happend upon the church, and I'd stepped in to photograph the beautiful light that was streaming in through a rose window. I met a group of students from the "Ýstanbul Universitesi Fotoðraf Kulübü," a photo club from the university in Istanbul. They invited me to join them for the day, and again the next Sunday to tour the Greek quarter, and the home of the Greek Orthodox Church. Meeting up with these students was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Turkey.
